What does ”genealogy“ mean?

The word “genealogy” comes from the Greek and means translated “sexual research”. Instead of this the colloquial language often describes it as “family research” or “ancestor research”. Genealogy is about the ancestry of a certain person. The forefathers are called “ancestors”.
