Administer your ancestors

Add a new person

On the summary page “manage ancestors” you find the link “add a new person”. Click on the link and a new data set will be created in the data bank. On the following page you fill in all important data like first and birth name. More in the subchapter “work on a person”.

To change the information of an already existing person or update the linkages with other persons either choose a person from the list on the page “manage ancestors” or look for a person by inserting e.g. the name of the person under “search for ancestors”. Further you find the persons that you have worked on at last under “the latest edited persons”.

Work on a person

On the data sheet of a person fill in all already found information. Information that you cannot save under “information” fill in the field “notes”. In the right column of this page you regain the persons under “manage relationships” with which this person(?) is linked.

Here the parents, partners, children, adoptive parents and adoptive children of the person are created, choosen or deleted. With a created partner you can change the family name, the marriage and divorse data etc. with a click on “family data”.

Every person has an own photo album. Under the headline “The photo album of the person” new pictures can be transferred and already created pictures can be deleted. The pics must be in the .jpg-format and must not be larger than 600x600 pixel. The transmission of the pictures can take some minutes.

Delete a person

Only after deleting all linkages (Einen ähnlichen Text gab es schon mal, falls ich dort „connections“ geschrieben habe, bitte in „linkages“ ändern!) with other persons a person can be deleted completely from the data bank. On the summary page “manage ancestors“ you find the persons in a list that have no more linkages and can be deleted therefore. With a click on “delete” the choosen person is deleted.
